Suspected LeT held with plans to blast Hyderabad

 Hyderabad, May 3 : A suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative- Mohd Zia Ul Haq-who was all set to blow up Hyderabad city, was arrested with arms and explosives on Monday here, the police said.

"Acting on a tip off, we arrested suspected LeT operative Mohd Zia Ul Haq and seized two grenades, one Chinese made pistol with six rounds and a cellphone from his possession. He was assigned to cause multiple explosions in Hyderabad," Police Commissioner A K Khan told reporter Monday night.

"He (Haq) was the man behind the Odeon Deluxe cinema hall blast at Chikkadpalli here on May 7, 2006," Khan said.

The 34-year-old man infiltrated to India via Poonch sector in Jammu and Kashmir, said the police chief.

"He got his militant training in Pakistan," Khan said.

"We are interrogating him to know details of his other plans," he added.

In Hyderabad, Haq was doing recce of vulnerable targets behind the disguise of a taxi driver, said the police commissioner.
