Ramdev preaches anti-GM mantra

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Monday said he will play a key role in the next general elections in 2014.
Baba Ramdev, who was here as part of his Bharat Swabhiman programme, said he had some big political plans in mind and that he would disclose those only in 2013, a year before the general elections.
He held the Centre responsible for the present political chaos in Andhra Pradesh. Ramdev preferred to remain silent on the issue of separate Telangana.
“I blame the Centre for the chaos. A separate state will lead to more chief ministers and they will fill their pockets with money”.
On Bt brinjal Baba Ramdev said, “genetically modified (GM) food will create more health problems. If we do not protest, more GM crops will come up upsetting the delicate ecological balance.”
He said cricketing ties between India and Pakistan will not help in easing border tensions. “We have been playing cricket with Pakistan for the past 60 years. Has cricket improved the relations,” he questioned.
Disapproving Shah Rukh Khan’s statement, Baba Ramdev said, “The actor wants to make profit and is not bothered about the welfare of the country.”
